June 15, 2009 GULBRANDSEN ACQUIRES ARKEMA'S GLOBAL ANHYDROUS ALUMINUM CHLORIDE BUSINESS
Orangeburg, SC - June 15, 2009; Gulbrandsen Chemicals and Arkema jointly announce the acquisition of Arkema's Anhydrous Aluminum Chloride business by Gulbrandsen Chemicals. Effective July 1, 2009, Gulbrandsen Chemicals will assume responsibility for Arkema's global Anhydrous Aluminum Chloride sales and will purchase their Arcil production site located in India.
With this acquisition, Gulbrandsen Chemicals becomes the largest producer and supplier of Anhydrous Aluminum Chloride globally, with one manufacturing site located in the USA and two manufacturing sites located in India..
To compliment this acquisition, Gulbrandsen Chemicals has also started up a new bulk transfer station located in Antwerp, Belgium. This facility is designed to transfer large quantities of Anhydrous Aluminum Chloride from bags to bulk containers. In conjunction with it's dedicated fleet of Iso containers and IBC's, this provides Gulbrandsen Chemical's European customers with unmatched global logistics capability and reliability.
